Differences between E18 Rev. A and Rev. B

A. Differences in appearance

The function switch on the bottom has one position added, from 2 positions to 3.

Rev. A: DAC, CHG

Rev. B: PC IN, PHONE IN, CHG OUT

B. Differences in function

Rev. A:

1.    When the function switch is in the DAC position, the E18 may be connected to a computer or a smartphone for USB audio decoding;

2.    When the function switch is in the CHG position, the E18 may charge a smartphone through the USB connection. (Decoding not possible in this position)

 (Reason for change: Rev. A E18s cannot be charged through the USB connection when used as a computer DAC. Users have to make a separate connection to the E18’s charging port with another USB port or power adapter.  (But the E18 charges faster this way))

Rev. B:

1.    When the function switch is in the PC IN position, the E18 may be connected to a computer for USB audio decoding and be charged at the same time.
(Connected to a smartphone in this switch position, the E18 won’t decode and the smartphone will not charge the E18)

2.    PHONE IN position functions in the same way as the “DAC” position on Rev. A E18s.  When the function switch is in the PHONE IN position, the E18 may be connected to a smartphone for USB audio decoding.  The E18 would run off its own power and not drain the smartphone’s battery.

(The E18 may also be connected to a computer for decoding in this switch position but will not be charged through the USB connection.  Advantage: using the E18’s internal battery decreases power supply noise.  Alternatively a 2A adapter may be connected to the E18’s dedicated charging port for faster charging than can be achieved through the computer USB connection.)

3.    When the function switch is in the CHG position, the E18 may charge a smartphone through the USB connection. (Decoding not possible in this position)
