FIIO 2 Dynamic 6 BA 8 Drivers IEMs FH19 Is Officially Released!

1. Forging ahead from the past, flagship sound

Three years ago, the FH9 was launched, as FIIO’s first high-end flagship hybrid earphone. With its energetic dynamics, wide soundstage, and pleasant sound quality, it was enthusiastically received by HiFi users worldwide upon release. It gradually became known among audiophiles as a great example of “balanced earphones,” far exceeding our expectations in popularity. It is still a competitive set of earphones even in today’s market.

The new FIIO FH19 from FIIO is a significant upgrade, incorporating much user feedback. It retains the signature sound and flagship-grade craftsmanship of the FH9, and is also co-developed with Tokyo Onkyo Ltd. in Japan and Knowles in the USA. It features a truly high-end acoustic design, with richer and fuller midrange and more robust yet flexible bass. Additionally, the fit has been redesigned and optimized based on the characteristics of the human ear, allowing you to experience truly flagship-level comfort.

2. Powerful combo, push-pull dual dynamic driver unit

FIIO, in collaboration with Tokyo Onkyo Co. Ltd., has developed a push-pull dual dynamic driver unit* for the FH19, based on push-pull technology used in high-end audio. This technology employs two 13.7mm high-magnetic dynamic drivers with PU+DLC composite diaphragms, arranged in an opposing configuration. When the diaphragms move back and forth, the overall movement direction of the two dynamic drivers remains consistent, ensuring phase consistency. This effectively doubles the driving force, and the diaphragms can provide air damping to each other. This makes the dynamic drivers exhibit more stable movement and fully suppress any residual sound after the audio signal stops.

Compared to typical dynamic drivers, push-pull dual dynamic drivers require only half the amplitude to achieve the target sound pressure level. This results in smaller diaphragm displacement, significantly improving linear driving performance and further reducing intermodulation distortion, allowing the driver unit to deliver cleaner sound.

*The FIIO FH19 is equipped with a push-pull dual dynamic driver unit, utilizing high-end push-pull audio technology. It consists of two active dynamic driver units that work in a “push-pull” manner. On a microscopic level, when one dynamic driver diaphragm “pushes” outward, the other diaphragm “pulls” inward, and vice versa. On a macroscopic level, the two dynamic driver units can be seen as a single entity, moving in the same direction, providing double the driving force and phase consistency.

3. Cooperated with Knowles to custom enhanced mids BAs

The FIIO FH19 uses six Knowles balanced armature drivers as its mid and high-frequency sound units. In order to achieve even higher levels of vocal sound quality, FIIO collaborated with Knowles to create a custom mid-frequency-enhanced balanced armature driver. By adding acoustic vents to the rear cavity of the driver, the mid-frequency driver gains more sound energy compared to typical mid-frequency drivers. This further unlocks the inherent advantages of the mid-frequency driver, resulting in rich and mellow vocals that are hauntingly realistic, as if the singer was right next to you.

4. Flagship construction, still made of titanium

Titanium midframe

The FIIO FH19 features build quality worthy of a flagship, to which the titanium midframe contributes. Its luxurious feel and uniquely charming titanium color give off a high-end appearance. Being the part of the earphone that is most frequently touched, the midframe’s pure titanium metal’s rigidity and corrosion resistance thoroughly protect the rest of the earphone’s shell, making it resistant to everyday wear and tear, truly embodying the essence of a flagship product.

7000 series aluminum shell

The FIIO FH19 employs 7000 series aluminum*, which ensures a durable and strong shell while reducing the weight of the earphones. Thanks to this aluminum, the FH19 still provides a comfortable wearing experience even with more drivers and a more complex acoustic design.

*7000 series aluminum alloy is widely used in aircraft fuselages, wings, and other important components. It has high strength, rigidity, and corrosion resistance. It is also known as 7000 series aerospace aluminum.

5. Focus on small details, achieving large upgrades, suspended voice coil

To achieve flagship-level driver performance, the FIIO FH19 utilizes a suspended voice coil design. In this design, the voice coil leads are routed directly from the center hole beneath the diaphragm, allowing them to float within the gap. This approach eliminates unnecessary contact and avoids additional adhesive load. Compared to conventional diaphragms*, the suspended voice coil design ensures uniform and smooth diaphragm movement, minimizing interference from other factors and fully unleashing the inherent potential of the diaphragm.

*Conventional diaphragms often rely on specific adhesives to bond the voice coil to the diaphragm surface. However, this approach not only increases the overall weight of the diaphragm but can also lead to dynamic imbalance during dynamic driver movement. Uneven localized weight distribution may cause vibration irregularities, alter diaphragm compliance, and even result in distortion due to voice coil scraping. Ultimately, this affects the overall performance of the driver.

6. Four-way acoustic design

“While the basic design is derived from the FH9, the FH19 builds upon its predecessor and surpasses it by updating the low-frequency and mid-frequency drivers and implementing them into a more precisely controlled four-way crossover design. In the low frequencies, custom push-pull dual-dynamic driver units are employed, and a ‘turbine low-frequency boost technology’ is used for physical low-pass filtering for relaxed yet natural bass. For the mid-frequencies, FH19 introduces an innovative ‘3+1 semi-open’ acoustic layout of balanced armatures. This is complemented by a newly designed resonant cavity, allowing for two separately managed mid-frequency zones that result in richer and more emotionally engaging mids. For the high frequencies, the FH19 retains the coaxial design with an acoustic guide while also incorporating Rubycon audiophile-grade film capacitors. This combination allows for high resolution while maintaining excellent treble tone.”

7. High-purity monocrystalline silver cable

The FH19 comes standard with a high-purity pure silver cable. Each of the 8 strands consists of 28 wires totaling 224 wires. Each individual wire is insulated with enamel, and the cable is twisted in Litz braids. The outer sheath is made from imported transparent eco-friendly TPU, enhancing its transparent appearance. Additionally, this material effectively prevents the cable from yellowing over extended use and becoming stiff in low-temperature environments.

*Cable is identical to the LC-RD Pro 2022.
