FIIO has poured much effort into developing the JT7’s driver from the ground up, controlling every aspect from diaphragm R&D to the voice coil and magnetic circuit. Being totally developed in-house means guaranteed consistent, excellent sound quality. The generously sized planar driver allows you to indulge in an expansive soundstage and powerful, energetic bass.

* Unlike conventional dynamic or balanced armature drivers, the planar driver is powered by an electromagnetic force acting across the entire, lightweight and thin diaphragm surface. This ensures uniform force is applied across the entire diaphragm, virtually eliminating the sectional distortion common in dynamic drivers. The result is low distortion, superb transient performance, and a vast soundstage. While the complex manufacturing involved often makes planar technology more expensive, the sonic benefits are clear.

The JT7 features the proprietary F.E.S. (FIIO Elastic System) design on the driver diaphragm, which incorporates multi-dimensional textures on that surface. These textures, similar to the surround ring on a dynamic driver, increase the diaphragm's elasticity. Compared to typical planar drivers, this innovation allows for precise control over internal stress, allowing the driver to move even more freely without added distortion. The result is effortless, enhanced bass with a greater presence.

The headphones are manufactured with the same premium process as the FP3, FT1 Pro, and FT7. Unlike more typical methods, the JT7 manufacturing process is derived from the high-precision plating used in the semiconductor industry - which enables the voice coil and diaphragm to be seamlessly integrated as one piece. This not only yields extremely fine coil wiring but also significantly boosts the coil's structural integrity and longevity.

The JT7’s 92dB/mW sensitivity is thanks to the powerful magnetic field generated by high-performance two-way neodymium iron boron magnets. These magnets deliver robust and ample driving force to the planar driver, enabling a louder and fuller sound even from weaker audio sources.

Tipping the scales at just 318g, the JT7 is thoroughly unlike typical planar headphones that are much heavier, allowing you to more easily enjoy long listening sessions. The user-friendly foldable design allows you to easily swivel and make the headphones more compact, letting you easily put them away at home or allowing you to easily carry them when traveling.

The parts of the earpads in contact with the skin are made of a comfortable, highly breathable mesh material that reduces heat and stuffiness during extended listening sessions. Both the earpads and headband cushion are detachable, allowing for easy cleaning and replacement – ensuring they will last for longer.

The hinge components are made from high-strength fiberglass material, offering superior performance compared to standard plastics.During the research and development process, the hinges undergo multiple professional reliability tests, including tens of thousands of expansion, twisting, swinging, bending, and tensile stress tests, ensuring exceptional durability and precision in every unit.

Recommended connecting devices for the JT7

Due to the inherent characteristics of planar headphones, their sensitivity is generally lower than that of dynamic headphones. However, with the JT7’s low impedance of just 18Ω, many FIIO portable dongles, music players, DAC/Amps, and CD players, such as the KA15, KA17, QX13, BTR17, M21, DM13, DM15 R2R, and other higher-end portable devices with over 500mW output power, can easily provide sufficient sound pressure in balanced output. For stronger bass dynamics and fuller bass performance, we recommend connecting the JT7 to desktop devices, such as the K11, K11 R2R, K7, or higher-end models.
