5. Description of the AIR AMP's Seven Operating Modes

The AIR AMP features the following 7 operating modes:

USB – USB Decoding Mode:

Connect to a smartphone or computer for USB audio decoding. When both the rear-panel and side-panel USB ports have devices connected simultaneously, the side-panel USB port takes priority and the rear-panel USB port is disabled. When connected to a smartphone for decoding, the AIR AMP does not consume the phone's battery power.

Note: For Windows computers, you will need to download the USB DAC driver from the official website and install it following the provided instructions before use. Download link: http://www.fiio.com/Driver_Download . macOS does not require this driver.

OPT – Optical Decoding Mode

Connect to an optical audio output device (e.g., TV, CD player, game console) for digital audio decoding.

COAX – Coaxial Decoding Mode

Connect to a coaxial output device for digital audio decoding.

LINE – Line Input Mode (Single-Ended)

Connect an analog source to the LINE IN port on the rear panel of the AIR AMP, and the unit will amplify the analog signal.

BT – Bluetooth Decoding Mode

Connect to Bluetooth audio output devices for wireless audio decoding. When switching to Bluetooth mode for the first time, the AIR AMP will automatically enter pairing mode, and the display will show "PAIRING". On subsequent entries to Bluetooth mode, the unit will automatically reconnect to the previously connected device.

Note: The AIR AMP's Bluetooth supports audio playback only and does not support phone call functionality.

STREAM – Streaming Mode

Receive audio streams from devices on the same local network via AirPlay or Roon.

• AirPlay: When an iOS or macOS device and the AIR AMP are connected to the same local network (via Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet), you can use AirPlay to wirelessly stream audio to the AIR AMP for output.

• Roon: After installing Roon Core on a PC or NAS, you can stream high-resolution lossless audio to the AIR AMP via Wi-Fi or wired network.

LOCAL – Local Playback Mode

Insert a USB drive into the rear-panel USB Type-A port of the AIR AMP. After installing the FiiO Control App on your smartphone and connecting both the phone and the AIR AMP to the same local network, you can use the app to scan and play songs stored on the USB drive. In addition, with the FiiO Control App, you can also access and play songs stored on NAS servers within the same local network.

Note 1: The PEQ function is active in all operating modes except LINE mode.

Note 2: All three output ports (SPEAKER OUT, PRE OUT, and SUB OUT) are active under all input modes.
